DaimlerChrysler sending EVs to France

Global Electric Motorcars (GEM), a subsidiary of DaimlerChrysler that has produced over 30,000 electric vehicles that are silently traversing the roadways of America as we speak, has inked a deal with Matra Manufacturing and Services to market its EV wares in France. GEM produces two-, four- and six-seater partly enclosed EV vehicles in both consumer and light utility versions that are in use by universities, parks, military bases and other facilities that require ridiculously outfitted security guards like the one pictured above. The vehicles will be outfitted to meet European Union regulations for light and heavy quadricycles and be sold in the Light Electric Vehicle market in France. Mantra MS will be the exclusive distributor and plans to establish a platform in Romorantin, France from which it will service these decidedly on-the-grid go-karts for the French.

"France promptly announced its surrender."
Since we're off-topic anyways... On the other side of the pond, I'm sure the French can easily say that there wouldn't be a "United States" if the French nation didn't finance our War of Independence from the British... So maybe the French could be speaking German if US didn't help, but I guess we'd still be a British colony if the French didn't save us.

Ick. Having driven one of those I can say they're total and utter crap. Those gems have front wheel drive (why is beyond me) as such they have the turning circle of a Mac truck.
Really, an ez-go or club car golf car with an uprated motor in it blows those gem cars out of the water...

I have to drive one of these every day at work. The only thing great about them is that they beat walking, they can carry 1500 lbs and a long battery life of about 2 hours at top speed of 24 mph, but thats they the only thing good about them. The body is made of pastic is easly broken and the doors are just worthless, are to open and sometimes don't close. But I guess they are just a fancy golf cart...but a bit faster and thats it

You're right Charles, many Americans don't seem to realize that they could still be living in the British colony that their forefathers were raised in. And back to topic, it's hard to take an officer seriously if hes in one of those, it just looks cheap.

You know, stick a 4-cyclinder turbo-charged engine in that thing, and you might have something there. What that something is, I don't know...
